The CreativeBehind the Cuts
I'm Ritul Singh — a tech lead by profession and a video editor by passion. Here's my story as a creator.
My Story
Video editing started as a curiosity and became a craft I genuinely love. What draws me to it is the same thing that draws me to engineering — solving problems creatively under constraints. A timeline is just another system to optimize, and every cut is a decision that shapes the viewer's experience.
In my free time, I edit content for creators and personal projects. I focus on pacing, narrative flow, and making every second count. Whether it's a 15-second reel or a 10-minute documentary, the principles are the same: hook, hold, deliver.
Retention-First Editing
Every cut I make is intentional. I structure edits around audience retention — hooking in the first second and building momentum throughout.
Visual Rhythm
I think of editing like music composition. Pacing, beats, pauses — the visual rhythm dictates how the story feels, not just what it says.
Emotional Impact
Good editing makes you feel something. Whether it's excitement, curiosity, or calm — I craft every sequence to land emotionally.
Always Learning
The editing landscape moves fast. I'm constantly studying new techniques, tools, and trends to keep my work fresh and relevant.
Picked up video editing as a hobby while in college, teaching myself Premiere Pro and After Effects through YouTube tutorials and personal projects.
Began editing content for creators — YouTube videos, reels, and branded content. Developed a fast, retention-focused editing style with intentional pacing.
Built a multi-format workflow handling short-form and long-form efficiently. Expanded into motion graphics, color grading with DaVinci Resolve, and sound design.
Editing as a creative outlet alongside my tech leadership role. Focused on cinematic storytelling, YouTube content, and taking select freelance projects.
